We have started Term 3 off with a bang with our mini metric olympics activity.
We are learning about the metric system for measurement and we put our learning into practice with our mini olympics.
The activities were:
Straw Javelin throw - measuring distance in metres and centimetres
Paper plate discuss - measuring distance in metres and centimetres
Ping pong ball shot put - measuring distance in metres and centimetres
Right handed marble grab - Measuring weight in grams and kilograms
Left handed sponge squeeze - Measuring liquid in millilitres
First we made an estimate and then we did the actual measurement - it was a lot of fun and not as easy as it looks!!
