We caught the bus and waited outside on the courts for our powhiri to begin. While we waited we played some Maori clapping games.
This is the front of Te Kohinga Marama Marae.
When we took the photo, Koruru got cut off the top. We can see the matapihi and the kuaha.
Do you know what they are?
Inside the wharenui there are six carvings that all have different names and meanings. If you look carefully you can see two of the six carvings. Do you remember what they are called?

ReplyDeleteSee you soon, Lilz.
Going to the marae was educational because it taught us so many things about the marae. It told stories and those stories were showed by carvings. The best thing I liked about the marae was the spine down the middle it had taupiri, the waikato river and the white cloud surrounding the mountain.
