We are creating self portraits as part of our Turangawaewae unit this term.
We are using a photo of ourself and highlighting the different shades and shadows on our faces. It was really interesting to look closely at the different shadows all over our faces.
First we studied our portrait and drew lines where we could see different tones and shadows.
Today we have been thinking about the colours we want to use to highlight the shadows and colour tones in our faces. These portraits are beginning to look really interesting and it is exciting to experiment with different tones and colours.
Here are a few examples of our work so far, to see the finished product...watch this space!

I love the way you are all taking time to analyse different aspects of artistry (like shading and colour) and experimenting with different ideas. I am really excited to see what the final portraits will look like! (Luca's dad)
