Art inspired by Fatu Feu’u a Samoan artist

Our inquiry this term has been about the environment and the impact we as humans have on it, yet how much we rely on it.
We have been thinking about the water cycle and the way that humans are polluting and wasting our water.

Fatu Feu’u is a Samoan artist who creates art that teaches about and conserves the Samoan culture but also highlights the importance of looking after the environment for future generations to enjoy.

We have been inspired by his art and we are creating our own pieces of art to represent a part of our own culture and what we want to try and look after in our environment.
We first drew the two designs we would use for our art, one representing our culture and the other a problem in the environment.

We then learnt different techniques for using chalk pastels

We drew our designs in pencil onto black paper and used chalk pastels over the top. We tried to use one or two of the techniques we had learnt.
