Maths - Measurement

This term we have looking at measurement during maths. We have been learning about different units of measurement and all the different ways that an object can be measured.

Measuring the orange

First we talked about all the different measurable 'attributes' of an orange. We came up with the following list:
Height
Circumference
Weight
Volume
Number of pips
Amount of juice
How far it could roll

Next we thought about how to measure these attributes and how to record the measurements.
We created a table so that we could easily track our findings.

We have already learnt about calculating averages so we decided to measure three oranges and work out the average of each measurement.

Here are some pictures of us following this process

Weighing the orange
Measuring how fast the orange can roll

Working out  the volume
Measuring the circumference
Measuring the juice...or counting pips

How far will it roll?

Once we had worked out all our measurements and calculated the averages we presented our findings on a Google slide. Have a look at our work on the next post!
