Tana Mahuta Day

Tane Mahuta is about celebrating the Earth. We were so lucky we celebrated this with Hamilton East School on Wednesday by learning in, about and for our environment.

Here are some pictures of us doing this..

We drew plans of what we should plant in our kitchen garden. We had to research what plants can grow in the cold weather of winter. This shows our garden and some marigold growing to keep the bugs out.

We did "look, draw, look" in our sketch books. We looked at all the beautiful leaves outside our classroom. They come from tall trees in our nature trail.

We had to look up close to see if any bugs or insects live in our trees.

At Putikitiki we listened to the birds. When we were quiet we saw so many birds that we lost count! We tried scuffing the leaves to attract the birds but they didn't come.

What did you do to celebrate Tane Mahuta Day?
