A few weeks ago we learnt about boat building.

We looked at different materials that float and sink and the different sorts of designs that make boats float well.

We then designed and built our boats and on our last week of swimming we tested them all out.

The goal was to build a boat that would float carrying a can of beans. It wasn't too hard to make the boats float but the extra weight with the can really challenged us.

We also had to think really carefully about the materials we used and whether they were water proof...some definitely were not!

Floating or sinking, it was heaps of fun!
