Composting, worms and getting our hands dirty

 This week we have been looking at composting, we looked at the compost bins in the kitchen garden and found plastic in them which we know is no good!

We have learnt about what should and shouldn't go in composts and why, including citrus, meat and plastic!

We have also learnt how important worms are for breaking down our food and producing 'black gold' for the garden.

Finally, we got to get our hands dirty and look at worms up close when Jan brought in some of her beautiful compost! We were amazed at all the worms and other bugs and we made worm farms and wormerys too!
