New Zealand History

This term we have been learning about New Zealand history from different perspectives and asking LOTS of questions. 

We understand that everybody sees things in a different way and that comes across in the stories we tell.

We asked 'Who discovered New Zealand?'and looked at the stories of Kupe, Abel Tasman and Captain Cook. 

We asked why people often say that Captain Cook discovered New Zealand when Māori already lived here... 

 Thanks to the School Kit Tuia 250 kit we investIgated some items that were on Captain Cook's ship 'The Endeavour' and that were traded between Māori and Europeans, and imagined their story

    These are all so interesting. I love how each presentation is unique. I've learnt a lot about the history of New Zealand through these slides, as well as Kiera having shared with me her learnings throughout the term too.
